Pleased to Meet You!

Hello and peace to you in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!

We are Chris and Jessica Cortez and we are blessed to lead the Children’s Ministry at Willard COG7. We are very excited to be able to reach out to you through blog-type posts such as this one and we would like to use our FIRST POST EVER to let you know what you can expect for your child when they are entrusted to our care.

Currently, the Children’s Ministry consists of Sabbath School every Saturday morning from 10:00AM to noon. This class is for children ages 5-8 and is focused on providing a scriptural foundation for spiritual growth and discovery. Our class size ranges from 4-12 but we usually have 7-8 children in attendance. Lessons come straight from the Bible and are intended not only to provide knowledge of the scriptures but also an understanding of how to apply the Living Word of God to everyday situations.

It is our hope the children will begin to see God, not as someone to be visited on the Sabbath, but as the Extraordinary God of everyday life!

Please keep this ministry and its children in your prayers and follow us from week to week to see what the children are learning.

Your brother and sister in Christ,

Christ and Jessica Cortez

Wednesday Bible Study 10/8/2014

Tonight’s discussion was rich and vivid, it is hard to summarize it. This summer does not give it justice, so we invite all of you to join and participate in our Bible Study every Wednesday at 7:30pm.

It is hard to summarize the great discussion that we had tonight. We invite all of you to join and participate in our Bible Study every Wednesday at 7:30pm.

Colossians 4 New International Version (NIV)

“4 Masters, provide your slaves with what is right and fair, because you know that you also have a Master in heaven.
Further Instructions
2 Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. 3 And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. 4 Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should. 5 Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. 6 Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.”

In tonight’s Wednesday Bible Study we reviewed passages in the book of Colossians chapter 4, verses 1 – 6. We started the study with a discussion on, “the importance of explaining our thoughts full in detail”, so that when we are heard, there is no miscommunication of our opinions. Our talks then moved to how our lives today can relate back to the text. We each discussed the fairness of our workplaces, how we feel that our work goes underappreciated, and how we should work to please God. Pray so that God may open the door for the message, because sometimes, as Christians, we forget to pray for that door to be open. Our message should be clear, with no misunderstandings. In verse 5 we concluded that we should be Christians 24/7 and not just on the Sabbath. If we proclaim ourselves as Christian, people will know who we are. When we misbehave as Christians, we make ourselves and God look bad. In doing so, we may also steer away a potential believer in Christ. Finally, our discussions ended on how to approach a non-believer, and make every opportunity with them count.

We invite you to become part of the conversation. What is your interpretation of Colossians chapter 4, verses 1 – 6 and why?

In next weeks Wednesday Bible Study we will review Colossians chapter 4, verses 7 – 15 or further. We hope to see you there!

Hello everyone! We have been hard at work on the site and on the media side of things in the church. We hope you take notice and enjoy it. Our site is still partially under construction, so we ask that you bear with us while we tweak it up. It has been a blessing to work on such a project, and we do it all for the glory of God.

Be sure to check up back on the site and keep an eye out for news, events, blog post from our ministries,  updates, and  podcast. You can also send a prayer request on the home page, if you like. We  want to make it easy to communicate within the community as well as with others outside the community, so we invite you to share and post comments. We have much more to come so stay tune.

Thank you and God Bless.
